I have been waiting for this for years. KFC is now offering vegan chicken on their menu! As a long time vegetarian, I celebrated for about four seconds until I found out it is only being offered in Canada. WTF!?! What a tease for American vegetarians!

Canada has to be one of the most vegetarian friendly places on Earth. When I was in Toronto last year for my Italian Vogue shoot, I was happy to see the street vendors offered veggie dogs at their hot dog stands. And now vegan chicken. I am jealous of the Canadians right now.

The only fast food chain in the US that currently offers a veggie burger is Burger King. I wonder how many more people would be vegetarian if the fast food restaurants made it more convenient for them. Face it, people are lazy and the easier something is, the more likely they are to do it. Make vegetarian food easily accessible, like in fast food restaurants and it may just catch on. The great thing is, these meat substitutes taste great! I can't tell you how many of my meat eating friends have eaten veggie chicken/sausage/whatever without knowing it and when I revealed it was not meat they were eating, they (often reluctantly) admitted that they liked it.

When will I be able to walk into KFC in North Carolina and get a vegan chicken sandwich? Well Yum Yum Brands, how about it? I already know the answer to that question... not soon enough!
